November 1968.
Brock and I were just 16 years old.
I needed a date for the Christmas formal - it was girl’s date.
He was singing in the Bass section of our high school choir.
I was an alto.
We grew up 3 blocks from one another and had known each other our entire lives but I never really noticed him before that moment.
And that one moment was all it took.
It was the best day of my life, that moment, and it just keeps getting better.
I just dreamt Jesus came and we were both soaring together above the shoreline, waves crashing beneath us; then we were zooming together up and up and up to heaven.
Seriously there’s never been any man for me but the boy next door.
I am thankful for eternity.
